As the ninth-generation Toyota Camry continues to be launched in right-hand-drive markets, Thailand is set to be the next to receive the D-segment sedan next week. This follows its arrival in Australia last month and Singapore in August, and its global debut in the United States in November last year.
The XV80 Camry has been launched in those markets solely with a 231 PS hybrid powertrain, comprised of a 2.5 litre naturally aspirated inline-four cylinder engine that makes 188 PS at 6,000 rpm 221 Nm of torque from 3,200 rpm to 5,200 rpm, paired to a 1VM electric motor producing 136 PS and 208 Nm, and so the same can be expected for the Thai-market Camry when it launches.
In Singapore and Australia, the ninth-generation Camry drives its front wheels through a continuously variable transmission, while the US version additionally gets an AWD variant that adds a rear axle electric motor, bringing its combined output to 235 PS.
Available equipment inside the XV80 includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch instrument panel, with an available 10-inch head-up display. Smartphone connectivity is by wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, with a nine-speaker JBL sound system.
The US-market Camry gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which packs autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure assist, road sign assist, automatic high beam, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Optionally available are traffic jam assist, front cross traffic alert, lane change assist, a panoramic view monitor as well as front and rear parking assist with automatic braking.
