Bagi tempoh 29 Ogos hingga 5 September 2024, Kementerian Kewangan (MOF) mengumumkan bahawa harga runcit bagi diesel di Semenanjung diturunkan lagi sebanyak 5 sen seliter, menjadi RM3.18 seliter.
Walau bagaimana pun harga diesel untuk Sabah dan Sarawak masih dikekalkan pada RM2.15 seliter.
Manakala untuk tempoh yang sama, petrol RON 97 juga diturunkan 5 sen seliter, kini menjadi RM3.42 seliter. Manakala harga runcit bagi RON 95 yang telah mencapai harga siling masih dikekalkan pada paras RM2.05 seliter.
Pertengahan Julai lalu, Kementerian Ekonomi berkata, buat masa ini, kerajaan masih meneliti dan menilai semula subsidi dan bantuan yang diberikan kepada rakyat termasuk petrol RON95.
“Kerajaan juga sedang meneliti keperluan pelaksanaan rasionalisasi subsidi ke atas petrol RON95. Walau bagaimanapun, buat masa ini, tumpuan dan keutamaan akan diberikan kepada pelaksanaan subsidi diesel sehingga penyasaran subsidi diesel menjadi stabil, sekaligus mencapai objektif yang ditetapkan.
Kerajaan pada masa ini masih meneliti dan menilai semula subsidi dan bantuan yang diberikan kepada rakyat, termasuk petrol RON95,” katanya.
