SYDNEY, NSW (CelebrityAccess) — Following the cancellation of the Canadian edition of the Just For Laughs festival earlier this year, ComediHa!, the brand’s new owner will be staging a new event in Australia in November.
ComediHa!, Just For Laugh’s new owner, announced that the Australian edition of the Just For Laughs comedy fest will take place in Sydney from November 18-23 with a lineup that includes Trevor Noah, Bill Bailey, Eric Idle, Stephen Fry, John Biship, and Melanie Bracewell.
The Canadian edition of Just For Laughs was abruptly canceled earlier this year after Groupe Juste pour rire announced it was seeking bankruptcy protection.
The company’s comedy assets, including the Just For Laughs festival brand, was sold to the Quebec-based ComediHa!
“This asset acquisition will enable us to offer even more diverse entertainment experiences to our Quebec, Canadian and global audiences while supporting the growth and development of our artists and content around the world. We are also becoming a strategic player for international artists who want to perform in Quebec and Canada,” said Sylvain Parent-Bédard, CEO of ComediHa! said in June during the announcement of the sale.
