Kevin Conroy instantly became one of the most iconic voices of Batman when he voiced the first character in Batman: The Animated Series. So, it’s fitting that possibly his last scene and line from the character was just released in the DC animated film Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three, where The Animated Series version of his character battles the equally iconic Mark Hamill-voiced Joker. To top things off, his final line, as Gotham and the universe seemingly end around him, is, “if it has to end, at least I go out like this… being Batman.”
For anyone who grew up hearing Kevin Conroy voice Bats on Batman: The Animated Series, it’s hard to think of a better send-off than this. The full line is poignant, perfectly delivered by Conroy, and has the added bonus of Conroy’s superhero getting one last good punch in the face for Hamill’s Joker. Even if there are some other lines that Conroy recorded for the character out there, it’s safe to say this might be the one to end it on.

Fans of the Arkham series of video games fondly remember Conroy providing the voice of the hero throughout the video game series, only for his last appearance as the video game version to be an evil, mind-controlled version of the character that gets killed off by the Suicide Squad. While his appearance was probably the best part of a very mid game, it still didn’t seem like a very fitting send-off for one of the best to ever play the Caped Crusader.
