Lady Deadpool Actress Reveals How Her Deadpool And Wolverine Cameo Happened

Almost as soon as Lady Deadpool appeared in the trailers for Deadpool and Wolverine, fans immediately began guessing who was behind the mask. Many of those guesses turned out to be correct. But what fans didn’t realize is that the actress in question has a link to the creation of Lady Deadpool herself.

Warning: the following contains spoilers about the identity of Lady Deadpool’s actress. If you haven’t seen the movie or don’t want to know who plays her, stop reading now.

Considering that Blake Lively is Ryan Reynolds’ wife, she was the most-likely choice to be Lady Deadpool. Lively confirmed her cameo in a post on her Instagram account, where she went on to explain that artist Rob Liefeld came up with the Lady Deadpool character in 2010. She also shared a screenshot of Liefeld acknowledging her character on Gossip Girl as the inspiration for Deadpool’s gender-swapped counterpart.

Lively also reflected on Green Lantern, her first movie with her future husband. She noted that Reynolds told her about his desire to make a Deadpool film five years before it actually happened in 2016. Additionally, Lively thanked director Shawn Levy for “bringing me along with you in ways big and small.”

Deadpool and Wolverine is now playing in theaters, and Lady Deadpool is far from the only Marvel cameo in the film.
