Lego Horizon Adventures – Rumored Release Date, Platforms, Story, And Everything Else We Know

Lego Horizon Adventures is coming this year to console and PC, adapting Sony’s dystopian sci-fi game series for a younger audience. The game re-tells the general story of Horizon, which follows the hero Aloy and her life in a harsh and unforgiving world full of dinosaur-like machine creatures.

But, as Lego did with its previous games based on The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones, Lego Horizon Adventures puts a more lighthearted and fun spin on things.

In this post, we’re running through everything you need to know about Lego Horizon Adventures, including who’s developing it, when it releases, and more.

As for the mainline Horizon game series, no new entries have been announced, though a multiplayer title is said to be in the works. Beyond that, a live-action TV show based on the franchise was announced for Netflix but may no longer be moving ahead.

When will Lego Horizon Adventures be released?

Gematsu reported that the PlayStation website’s homepage briefly listed a November 14 release date for Lego Horizon Adventures, though it’s since been updated to remove it. There is said to be a PlayStation State of Play event in September, and some believe Sony could announce the release date for Lego Horizon Adventures then. For now, though, the game is confirmed only for release at some point during Holiday 2024, a window that was reiterated during the August 27 Nintendo Direct.

Preorder Lego Horizon Adventures

Lego Horizon Adventures is not yet available to preorder, but fans can wishlist the title on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the PlayStation Store. There doesn’t seem to be a page yet for the game on Nintendo’s website.

Watch the Lego Horizon Adventures trailer

Lego and Sony revealed the first trailer for Lego Horizon Adventures during Summer Game Fest 2024 back in June. A cinematic trailer, the video sets up the story, setting, and tone of the latest Lego game–check it out for yourself below.

Lego Horizon Adventures platforms

Lego Horizon Adventures is coming to PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Horizon is a PlayStation brand, and Sony’s own Guerrilla Games is developing Lego Horizon Adventures alongside Studio Gobo, but Sony is increasingly bringing more of its games to PC. Lego Horizon Adventures is not Sony’s first game on a rival platform, though, as the MLB The Show franchise has appeared on rival systems for years. As of yet, however, there is no word on an Xbox release for Lego Horizon Adventures.

Lego Horizon Adventures story, setting, and characters

Lego Horizon Adventures re-tells some of the story beats from the main Horizon series, so that means you’ll play as Aloy. She’s found in a cave as a baby, before being raised by a huntsman named Rost–he guides her on her journey. Aloy goes up against Helis, the leader of a group of sunworshippers.

“There’s much more in store for Aloy and her friends, as their adventure sends them across the tallest mountains and deepest cauldrons–all beautifully recreated in LEGO elements,” reads a line from the game’s description.

Lego Horizon Adventures co-op

The Lego series of games is known for supporting co-op, and that continues with Lego Horizon Adventures. The game can be played solo or with friends through both local couch co-op or online.

“We were determined to make a Lego game unlike any other Lego game,” James Windeler, narrative director at Guerrilla, told GameSpot. “From a visual perspective, we wanted to make a statement in the sense that we wanted to create a playable Lego movie in terms of the visual quality. But one of the things that’s really unique about it and very different from other games is that everything you see is made from individual bricks. Every asset could, in theory, be made from physical material, Lego pieces.”

Lego Horizon Adventures price

Lego Horizon Adventures is not yet available to preorder, so there is no word on the price.
