Next Jurassic World Movie Gets New Title And Plot Details

Welcome to Jurassic World Rebirth. The next movie in the long-running franchise finally has an official title, and it will take place narratively five years after Jurassic World Dominion.

Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson will star in Jurassic World Rebirth as a covert-ops expert named Zora Bennett. She’s tasked with gathering genetic material from three gigantic dinosaurs to help create a revolutionary new drug for humanity. But while on this mission, Zora finds herself entangled with a civilian family and marooned on an island.

Below is the official plot synopsis:

“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.

… When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”

Johannson will be joined by Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Wicked), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (6 Underground, Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer) in Jurassic World Rebirth. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story filmmaker Gareth Edward is directing the movie, with a screenplay by Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp.

Two new images–seen above–from Jurassic World Rebirth were shared from the movie on X. The first one sees Johansson’s Zora together with Bailey’s character Dr. Henry Loomis, who’s a paleontologist. The other photo sees Ali almost re-enacting the iconic road flare scene from Jurassic Park. Ali will portray Zora’s right-hand man named Duncan Kincaid.

Jurassic World Rebirth is planned to premiere July 2, 2025.
