September Is Shaping Up To Be Packed Full Of Pleasant Games

There will be more than dancing in September and the start of fall in the northern hemisphere. Next month is also looking like a delightful time to check out a group of pleasant new games, like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on Switch and Astro Bot on PS5. Both seem like potentially great experiences to open your windows, relax on the couch, and let your worries drift away.

Nintendo already revealed that Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will feature familiar locations to put you in your happy place when it launches September 26. Even better, the princess can travel to these areas by riding a cute horse, too. Meanwhile, the Astro’s Playroom sequel for PS5 brings back the adorable protagonist in what looks like another charming platforming game on September 6. Astro Bot is so lovable that even a limited-edition DualSense controller for the character sold out quickly.

It’s not just the big companies dropping cute games in September, either. The Plucky Squire, from publisher Devolver Digital, just got a release date for September 17 earlier this week. The adventure title stars Jot and his storybook character friends. Shortly before that, Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines comes out on September 12. It’s a sequel to Grapple Dog but appears to feature a lot more run-and-gun shooting action.

The aim is to have a little something for everyone when UFO 50 drops on September 18. As the name implies, there are 50 different experiences within this collection, created by the developers behind Spelunky and Downwell. It all has an 8-bit aesthetic, as well, to feel like something out of the 1980s.

On September 24, THQ Nordic will release Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a remake of the Wii game. This updated version sports improved visuals and updated controls (important considering the Wii Remote pointer was integral to the original game).

Last but not least, right before Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Tiny Glade will arrive on PC on September 23. This might be the ultimate relaxing experience for next month, since the game is all about creating castles with zero pressure.

Keep in mind this isn’t a comprehensive list. For instance, a delightful-looking game just launched today on Steam called Gourdlets, and we might see even more unexpected games pop up in September.

Needless to say, September will be a nice time to unwind with these pleasant games, especially with spooky season looming afterward. October will kick off with horror game like the Silent Hill 2 remake and Until Dawn, per GameSpot’s 2024 games release schedule.
