Spider-Man Noir Series Casts Iconic Actor Alongside Nicolas Cage

The Spider-Man Noir series takes place in 1930s New York and follows the titular character as a down-on-his-luck PI who struggles with his past as the city’s only superhero. Nicolas Cage first portrayed the character in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, though the Amazon series will be live-action. It’s unclear if he’ll be playing the same version seen in Into the Spider-Verse or if the series will be creating its own version of the character.

Based on the description, it seems that the Spider-Man Noir series will carve its own path and possibly adapt the comics. This means that Brendan Gleeson’s character is likely from the comics, so fan theories are sure to start forming right away. Most of Noir’s villains in the comics are 1930s twists on traditional Spider-Man villains, so it wouldn’t be hard to imagine Gleeson playing someone like Doc Ock.
