The Librarians: The Next Chapter aired on The CW in May of 2023 and ran for a single season, before being removed from the schedule on August 16th, 2024.
The show was picked up quickly, with Warner Bros. Discovery adding it to the lineup for TNT. This early on it’s unclear what TNT’s plans are for the show, but it can’t be any worse than cancellation.
As part of a beloved franchise The Librarians: The Next Chapter, brings an established fandom, making it more significant than a standard one-season genre show.
The franchise began in 2004 with The Librarian: Quest for the Spear a made-for-TV movie that spawned a pair of sequels. That series of TV movies was followed by The Librarians, a popular spin-off show that ran for four seasons.
