Nintendo Direct Announced, But It’s Not The One You’re Hoping For

Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct presentation for August 19 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET. However, it’s not the usual kind of Nintendo Direct that you’d expect.

This showcase is actually a 10-minute “Nintendo Museum Direct” and will be a tour of the Nintendo Museum that’s slated to open this fall in Kyoto, Japan. To clear up any confusion and dash any hopes, Nintendo also said that there will be no game announcements or any mention of the Switch successor during this presentation.

Nintendo has been upfront about what to expect from its Nintendo Direct presentations, especially when it comes to the Switch’s successor. However, it has confirmed that it will at least be revealed by April 2025. The last Direct Nintendo aired was back in June, and it revealed some big games like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and it finally set the 2025 release window for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

It’s not out of the ordinary for Nintendo to have Directs focused on certain games or properties. After all, Nintendo had two Directs specifically for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
